The protected Park/ Forest “Vodno” – unprotected from institutions and usurpers

Above the Institute for Lung Diseases in children – Kozle, deep in the protected park-forest Vodno in the location Rupi, starting from last year, mountaineers and locals signal alarmingly about a massive ecological crime on this ‘lung oasis’.

Destroying the protected part of the forest fund is registered through expertise ordered by City Skopje, and Radio MOF with exploration helped by activists had seen a chain of contradictories regarding the case of parcels on Vodno where as owners are listed Tome Kostadinovski, Rubincho Zareski and Zoran Jolevski. At the same time, this case gives a broader image for the unsuitable institutional treatment and prolonging of the protection and preservation of the largest suburban greenery in Skopje, with role of protection and preservation of the capital city from pollution, torrential erosions.

This exploratory story is realized as part of the project “Vodno – institutional and civil unprotected filter of the air in Skopje”, project implemented by the Civil Society Organization Eco Logic, in collaboration with Radio MOF. The project is a part of the “Development of ecological exploratory journalism”, supported by EU, and implemented by Florozon and Sumnal.
