Objectives

ROOTED aims to engage, train, and empower young people in Macedonia—particularly young women and rural youth—to actively participate in shaping a sustainable and just food system. By building skills in agroecology, sustainable farming, and food justice, and by strengthening youth agency in advocacy and public engagement, the project seeks to foster greener, fairer, and more local food futures.


Activities

– Open call for youth participation and selection of participants.
– Workshop series designed to train youth multipliers in agroecology, advocacy, and campaign strategies.
– Implementation of youth-led micro-actions across local communities.
– Co-design and outreach activities with schools, kindergartens, and restaurants to integrate sustainable food initiatives.
– Pilot actions under the “Local on the Menu” approach.
– Organization of the ROOTED Fair, showcasing youth initiatives and community practices.
– Storytelling and public awareness campaign inspired by REBOOT project materials.


Impact

– Empowerment of youth to become advocates for agroecological and just food systems.
– Adoption of sustainable food practices in schools, kindergartens, and restaurants through youth engagement.
– Strengthened public awareness on food justice, youth leadership, and the importance of local and global food system transformation.The project is part of NDICI CSO/2023/448-324 – Rebooting the Food System: Youth Engagement for Agroecology and Due Diligence, funded by the DEAR Programme and coordinated by CEEweb for Biodiversity.
